The 10th edition of Vasantotsav, a two-day Music Festival, is all set to enthral music lovers from 23rd -24th December. Organized annually in memory of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande, the festival will have Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan, Rakesh Chaurasia, Rahul Deshpande, Mahesh Kale and Subodh Bhave to perform at the festival. Eminent artistes from the Hindustani classical music world and theatre will also be seen at the event.
Speaking about festival, singer Shankar Mahadevan said, “Late Dr Vasantrao Deshpande a colossal figure in the world of Hindustani Classical music has enthralled generation after generation with soulful rendition of different ragas. His compositions transcend barriers of age, language, culture and strike a chord with every music lover, it is my privilege that I am performing as a part of this festival to be held in memory of the legendary Indian classical vocalist.”
On the first day, the event will start with a legendary musical play Sangeet Manapman, featuring Rahul Deshpande and Priyanka Barve mainly along with other co-artistes, followed by Shankar Mahadevan, the golden voice – a vocal performance of baithak of semi-classical songs.
On the second day of the festival legendary musician, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, versatile Flautist Rakesh Chaurasia in a flute duet will set the stage.
The finale of the two-day festival will be at 6.30 pm by the power packed presentation of the legendary super hit musical play ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusli’ featuring Rahul Deshpande, Mahesh Kale and Subodh Bhave. This will be the last show of the super-hit musical play.
The festival promises its discerning, music loving audience a treat of their lifetime. Mumbai will witness a magnificent music festival over a span of two days like never before, leaving everyone spellbound.
